Our Value Pledge
Our three-part value pledge distinguishes us from the other guys:
- Power Buys
- Any Price Quality Insurance
- No Substitution, No Downgrade
The other bead guys increase their retail prices when the price to acquire beads goes up. With the Bead Traders, you’ll never need to worry about market-dependent cost fluctuations when stocking up on beads for your next project. We make this possible because of our power buys: we purchase inventory like black onyx beads in such bulk that our inventory outlasts acquisition price changes. This means we can maintain our competitive price for extended periods, regardless of increases in bead acquisition costs.
Our Any Price Quality Insurance policy means we rigorously inspect allour products, regardless of price point. Unlike some of the other guys, we don’t think a lower-cost bead deserves less attention. We bring you the best goods at competitive costs, and our No Substitution, No Downgrade policy protects you from pawned, knockoff, and substitute inventory. For example, some of our competitors incorrectly label other banded lapidary materials as onyx, such as banded calcite. Our inspections prevent situations like this. the Bead Traders only stocks the real thing!
Get to Know Onyx
the Bead Traders offers a diverse array of black onyx beads and green onyx beads. Onyx is a layered variety of chalcedony quartz with a Mohs scale hardness reading of 6.5 to 7. It is a cryptocrystalline, which means that its fine crystal structure, consisting of quartz and morganite, is only visible under a microscope. To the naked eye, onyx appears deeply smooth, with a waxy luster which becomes vitreous when polished. The stone is mined in a variety of locations like Australia, China, India, Madagascar, and Mexico.
This banded stone gets its name from the ancient Greek word onuks (ὄνυξ), meaning “fingernail.” This is because in its raw form, onyx has weak transparency and resembles the flesh-tone color of fingernails. Ancient Egyptians claimed that the stone aided with detachment and self-sufficiency. Later, Roman poets would claim that the stone consisted of Venus’ nails clipped off by Cupid.
Our selection of onyx includes black onyx beads and green onyx beads in a variety of shapes, sizes, and designs. Our onyx can help you with your craft solutions. Practitioners of mystical traditions, such as theosophy and feng shui, have long valued the grounding stability of onyx’s energy. They claim it gives off a frequency of steady perseverance, allowing you to feel more confident in your intuition and become more self-reliant in your daily life.
