What Is Sunstone?
Sunstone gemstones and beads are a type of plagioclase feldspar that ranges from translucent to transparent and produces bright metallic flashes when they interact with light. Tiny mineral includes have a plate-like effect and common orientation and light that enters the stone usually has a common angle. This produces a beautiful flash of light to the person who views them at just the right angle. This is called adventurescence.
Sunstone is also called heliolite or adventurescent feldspar. It's used for beads and sculptures and the clearest specimens are cut into faceted stones.
